Fra i boschi dell’Alta Badia, in località La Villa, a pochi passi dai grandi massicci dolomitici Puez-Odle e Fanes-Senes-Braies esiste un luogo dove la cultura ladina incontra il comfort: l’Hotel La Majun . Come ama ricordare la titolare Roberta Rinna: «Non siamo un hotel, ma una casa. Per noi e i nostri ospiti». La storia dell’Hotel La Majun, infatti, ha inizio negli anni Trenta quando suo padre, Giovanni Rinna il fabbro del paese, morì lasciando alle donne della famiglia il compito di rilevare l’attività  di forgiatura, mestiere prettamente maschile.  Non potendo continuare quella tradizione, per mantenere la famiglia all’inizio degli anni Sessanta a sua madre Giuditta venne un’idea: mettere in affitto due camere della casa ai turisti che arrivavano in Alta Badia. Nelle settimane in cui queste erano occupate dagli ospiti, Giuditta e i suoi cinque figli dormivano nella rimessa della casa suddividendosi i compiti da svolgere nella loro piccola struttura ricettiva. La titolare, Roberta, era solita allora dare una mano in cucina dopo la scuola, mentre la zia serviva agli ospiti la tradizionale minestra d’orzo, le mezzelune ripiene, e gustosi piatti di selvaggina dei boschi dolomitici. Lo spirito di collaborazione familiare e la determinazione delle sue proprietarie, generazioni di donne generose e professionali, ha reso La Majun ciò che è oggi: un hotel quattro stelle superior nell’incantevole contesto delle Dolomiti. 

LE CAMERE

Le spaziose camere e le suites dell’albergo offrono comfort e intimità grazie agli arredi in legno che  sanno di casa, com’è nell’idea che ispira la gestione della famiglia di titolari, Roberta Rinna e suo marito Carl Mellauner. Il loden, il tradizionale tessuto dell’Alta Badia, si ritrova inoltre in tutti gli ambienti, a ricordare le radici nella cultura ladina. Un legame, quello con il territorio e la tradizione, che emerge anche nella scelta dei mobili costruiti con legno antico e creati dalle sapienti mani sapienti delle genti dolomitiche. 

LA SPA

La piscina coperta si affaccia con grandi vetrate panoramiche sull’incredibile paesaggio delle Dolomiti, mentre nella zona sauna, fra elementi in pietra naturale e legno, gli ospiti potranno scegliere fra il benessere delle due saune finlandesi e il piacere del bagno di vapore al sale. Per immergersi letteralmente nel cuore delle Dolomiti consiglio un bagno nella tradizionale vasca rustica in legno, riempita fino all’orlo di fieno odoroso e coloratissimi fiori alpini e per finire in bellezza i trattamenti rilassatevi con una tazza fumante di tisana alle erbe, preparata con acqua di fonte, a disposizione nella confortevole saletta da tè. 

RISTORANTE

«La tradizione culinaria quasi cinquantennale della nostra dimora nacque in cantina, a pelare patate», ricorda Roberta, la titolare. Con le specialità ladine reinterpretate, i suoi piatti di stagione e l’abbinamento con gli ingredienti della cucina italiana, il ristorante dell’Hotel La Majun è oggi un punto fisso nello scenario gastronomico dell’Alta Badia. Il suo personale si è infatti specializzato nella preparazione di piatti che legano il gusto italiano alla tradizione alpina e ai vini  accuratamente scelti dal marito di Roberta, Carl Mellauner, che provengono dai vigneti dell’Alto Adige, ma anche dal resto d’Italia e da diversi Paesi del mondo. Un motivo in più per non lasciarsi sfuggire anche una visita all’enoteca dell’albergo.

Among the woods of Alta Badia, in La Villa, a few steps from the great Puez-Odle and Fanes-Senes-Braies peaks, there is a place where the Ladin culture meets comfort: Hotel La Majun (link to the site). How loves to remember the owner Roberta Rinna: “We aren’t a hotel, but a house. For us and our guests». The history of the Hotel La Majun, in fact, began in the thirties when his father, Giovanni Rinna the blacksmith of the village, died leaving the women of the family the task of detecting the forging activity, a purely masculine trade. Not being able to continue that tradition, to keep the family, at the beginning of the Sixties, Roberta’s mother, Giuditta, came up with an idea: to rent two rooms in the house for tourists arriving in Alta Badia. In the weeks when these were occupied by the guests, Giuditta and her five children slept in the shed of the house, subdividing the tasks to be performed in the accommodation. The owner, Roberta, used to give a hand in the kitchen after school, while her aunt served the traditional barley soup, stuffed mezzelune, and tasty game dishes from the Dolomites. The spirit of family collaboration and the determination of its owners, generations of generous and professional women, has made La Majun what it is today: a four-star superior hotel in the enchanting setting of the Dolomites. The spacious rooms and suites of the hotel offer comfort and intimacy thanks to the wooden furniture that they know of a home, as is the idea that inspires the management of the owner’s family, Roberta Rinna and her husband Carl Mellauner. The loden, the traditional fabric of Alta Badia, is also found in all environments, to remember the roots of Ladin culture. A link, that with the territory and tradition, which also emerges in the choice of furniture built with antique wood and created by the expert hands of the Dolomite people. The indoor swimming pool overlooks large panoramic windows overlooking the incredible landscape of the Dolomites, while in the sauna area, between natural stone and wood elements, guests can choose between the well-being of the two Finnish saunas and the pleasure of the salt steam bath. To literally immerse yourself in the heart of the Dolomites I recommend a bath in the traditional rustic wooden tub, filled to the brim with odorous hay and colorful alpine flowers and to finish the beauty treatments relax with a steaming cup of herbal tea, prepared with water source, available in the comfortable tea room. “The culinary tradition of almost fifty years of our home, was born in the cellar to peel potatoes,” recalls Roberta, the owner. With the Ladin specialties reinterpreted, its seasonal dishes and the combination with the ingredients of Italian cuisine, the restaurant of Hotel La Majun is now a fixed point in the gastronomic scenario of Alta Badia.
